Mission Statement

About Activity Haven
In April, 1990 Activity Haven Recreational Centre of Peterborough became an incorporated organization and operates independently under the guidance of a board of directors. In 1994, with the help of infrastructure funds, the club was able to increase our facilities. We have also made areas handicap accessible. Activity Haven’s goal is to fulfill the recreational needs of seniors in the Peterborough Community by offering a wide variety of programs.
Some of the programs our members enjoy are: Euchre, Bid Euchre, Bridge, Basic Bridge, Duplicate Bridge, Music Group, Nordic walking group, Scrabble, Swedish weaving, Exercises, Carpet bowling, Line dancing, Shuffleboard, Woodcarving, Craft Classes, Tai Chi, Dimensional Art, Billiards, Bunka, Embroidery Cards, Scrap booking, and many more. We also offer Instructor led yoga classes five days a week, including Hatha, Yoga Flow, Yoga Restorative and Bone Building.
In all, we offer more than 80 programs ongoing in our rooms at the Queen Alexandra Building. Activity Haven staff publish a monthly newsletter that our members can pick up in the office or receive by email. It lists all of the activities and special events that will be available.
Membership to the club is $30.00 annually. Members also pay a $2.00 user fee for each program they attend. These funds all go to support our organization. Some of our programs also have an instructor fee. Activity Haven also receives funding from the City of Peterborough and the Senior Secretariat for our Elderly Person Centre.
Our club could not function without our wonderful volunteers. We have over 200 volunteers who help in all areas of the club.
Our club gives our members a place to belong, to be with people their own age and to share their interests and their talents, to have fun, to laugh and to enjoy themselves.
